Scuba Trip 2015: Costa Rica!

Why Costa Rica?

Costa Rica is known for its beaches, volcanos, and rainforests with exotic wildlife. It’s located in Central America and the coastlines are surrounded by the Caribbean and Pacific Ocean. Ecotourism is a very popular form of tourism in Costa Rica because of all the undisturbed national parks that populate this country.

We will be staying at Playa Tamarindo in Costa Rica which is mostly known for its beautiful beaches, surfing, and nightlife. If you are not looking for that kind of trip, don’t be discouraged, this location is a very popular place for any type of traveler. Right by where we will be staying is the Parque Nacional Marino Las Baulas de Guanacaste. This location is the most important nesting site in the entire world for leatherback turtles, or baulas. The national park is made up of predominantly mangroves and you can find all 6 species that are native to Costa Rica here. Some wildlife that you can run into at this location include caiman, crocodile, and numerous species of birds. If you are lucky, you can spot the beautiful roseate spoonbill. Howler monkeys, otters, raccoons, coatis, and various types of crab also populate this beautiful national park.

The national parks and diving are just a few reasons why you should consider coming on this trip with Learn Scuba Chicago. There is a reason Costa Rica is one of the top countries in the world for tourists.
